SunShare Community Solar

Founded in 2011, SunShare is an end-to-end developer, owner, and operator of community solar gardens. As the nation’s oldest community solar company, our mission is to give everyone access to renewable energy solutions.

We are a pioneer of community solar policy and program development, and we serve our communities by leasing or buying land from local landowners, building community solar gardens, and allowing community members to subscribe to the energy produced by the garden.

Sustainability is key to SunShare’s purpose. Since inception, we have prioritized being responsible developers, owners, and operators by taking a place-based approach to facility design that incorporates local agriculture when possible, managing vegetation with low-emissions solutions (like sheep!), and consistently finding ways to mitigate the energy burdens of low income individuals through discounted subscriptions.

To date, our community solar gardens are projected to offset 7.7 billion miles of driving or 3.5 billion pounds of coal burned over their lifetimes, the equivalent of planting 53 million trees.
