Lean & Green Michigan

Lean & Green Michigan, manages property assessed clean energy (PACE) financing programs throughout the state. As of October 2021, they serve as PACE administrator for 49 local governments representing 73% of Michiganders. They help building owners retrofit existing buildings or build new ones to maximize energy efficiency, water efficiency and/or renewable energy deployment. By placing a PACE special assessment on their property, owners obtain 100% financing with long-term, fixed interest rates that yield positive net operating income (NOI) throughout the finance term, typically 20 years. This means the building owners can radically reduce energy and water use in buildings with no upfront cost and while generating positive cash flow. Owners repay PACE financing purely from their reduced utility and operating costs, with cash left over to put back into their businesses.
