Taylor Mitchell, Sustainability Director, Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority
Taylor Mitchell is a proud Detroit native and a passionate advocate for a sustainable and equitable future.
As the Sustainability Manager for the Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority, Mitchell leads the implementation of the Port’s Decarbonization and Air Quality Improvement Plan, advancing strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve community health, and support the transition to a net-zero future by 2040.
Mitchell earned her B.S. in Agricultural & Environmental Systems from her beloved HBCU, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and her M.S. in Environment & Sustainability from the University of Michigan. She has seamlessly merged her commitment to community enrichment with scientific research in her current role.
She is grateful that her role at the Port Authority sits at the intersection of environmental stewardship, economic development, and maritime innovation, with a focus on delivering long-term environmental and economic benefits to the region and its residents.
