Schupan Honored as 2024 West Michigan Sustainable Business of the Year for Leadership in Materials Management

Grand Rapids, MI – October 17, 2024 – Michigan Sustainable Business Forum (MiSBF) is proud to recognize Schupan as a 2024 West Michigan Sustainable Business of the Year honoree. Schupan is celebrated for its commitment to advancing a circular economy through innovative materials management, infrastructure investments, and industry-leading practices, demonstrating that zero-waste events are achievable in Michigan.

Through its investments in infrastructure and a dedication to sustainable practices, Schupan has not only supported the efficient functioning of Michigan’s bottle bill system but has also demonstrated how zero-waste initiatives can succeed at large-scale events. The company’s efforts have set a new standard for sustainability in the region, making a positive impact on both the environment and local communities.

Schupan has made significant investments in new and upgraded infrastructure across West Michigan and beyond. These efforts support the company’s core sustainability initiatives, providing 100 million additional pounds of high-quality, low-carbon aluminum to the marketplace. While enhancing Michigan’s top-tier bottle deposit system, Schupan has also upgraded its facilities to reduce energy consumption and improve green stormwater infrastructure.

The award will be presented during the 11th Annual Triple Bottom Line Bash on October 23, 2024, at The High Five Grand Rapids. The event will feature an evening of celebration, networking, and a special tribute to MiSBF’s 30th anniversary. Attendees will enjoy a locally sourced dinner and beverages while helping to support MiSBF’s ongoing statewide programming that promotes sustainable business practices across Michigan.
