Supporting Sustainability in Michigan’s Great Southwest
We promote business practices that advance climate leadership, social justice and the creation of a circular economy
Supporting Sustainable Business in Berrien and Van Buren Counties
Michigan’s Great Southwest Sustainable Business Forum was founded in 2010 to educate the local business community in sustainability matters: an information source and a force for merging environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic strength. It later merged with West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum to create the largest regional organization for sustainable business practitioners in the Midwest.
MGSSBF today supports the community through:
- Networking and educational events for local professionals.
- Connections to resources, vendors and information.
- Working groups and projects to advance sustainability outcomes.
- Peer-to-peer learning and continuing education.

Local Leadership
MGSSBF was founded by serial entrepreneur and circular economy innovator Becky Kliss. She recognized a need for a local sustainability resource and began organizing local companies to create the forum, beginning with eight founding members. Today a new generation of leaders from the public and private sectors are collaborating to advance sustainability in the region.
Our work in Michigan’s Great Southwest is supported by a council of local members that serve as advisors and ambassadors.
